Environment Hazards

Many life has perished because of environmental hazards. Environmental hazards comes in two categories some are man made such as global worming while some are natural disasters such as earhquarks and floods.Earhquarks, floods , hurricans and heat weave are natural environmental hazards that have claimed many people's lifes.

Earthquaks

An earthquak is a sudden treme or movement of the earth's crust which originate naturally at or below the surface.Spilsbury (2010:32) explains that earthquake is caused by explosive volcanic eruption.Earthquak usually occurs in places that are volcanic.Therefore people should locate far away from volcanic places because floods may occur and people can perish.

Earthquake is also caused by tectanic activities associated with plates margina and faults.Spilsbury(2010:32) outline that the cracks or sudden slips of the land are known as faults or fault planes. The point of origin of the earthquake is inside the earth and is known as the hypocenter. Maximum destruction is caused at the epicenter, the surface above the hypocenter.

Floods

Floods has claimed many life and has left people's lives homeless.Floods can  drain a country's economy in terms of rebuilding the destroyed buildings.Heavy rains , thunderstorms and earthquak causes floods.Spilsbury(2010:56) postulated that heavy rainfalls are one of the major causes of floods. The level of water in rivers or lakes rises due to heavy rainfalls. When the level of water rises above the rive banks or dams, the water starts overflowing, which causes floods. The water overflows to the areas adjoining to the rivers, lakes or dams, causing floods or delugeld

People should avoid building their homes near oceans, rivers and dams

People should  avoid  settling near oceans and dams since floods can occur and cause disaster in their lives.Many people love to locate themselves near oceans, dams and rivers hence floods can occur anywhere regardles of place.
