Minerals and land degradation

Minerals such as gold, diamonds and nickel are useful resources that can boast our economy in the country.Many countries want to built a mutual relationship with Iran because of the oil that it have.Proper mining procedures can enhance the country's economy and mining companies should observes environmental rules not to cause land degradation.

Large holes that are left by gold panners

If one can travel to Gwanda and other places in Mutare there many people who practice illegal gold panning.There are galleys every where that can cause fatal accidents even death.The gold panners do not mind about the consequences that can be caused by digging huge holes that are left without being filled.Many people have died because of these large holes.One can be trapped without being noticed by the other until death.These large holes they are not only dangerous to human but also cattle, goats and other domesticated animals.







Children are used in the extract of gold and other minerals

Children are used as cheap labour  to extract minerals illegal.Many children in Gwanda  dropped out from  school so that they become gold panners and earn fast cash.Many people are now rich because of the iilegal gold panning.Some does it in the river and its dangerous especially to children.From the picture one can observe that children are used as cheap labour to extract gold and daimonds.

In bigger mines like Mimosa and Mbada Diamonds mining companies  the residue from  the mines also cause land pollution.If one can travel to Zvishavane and then turns at Netta a big dam like is seen.The residue occupy a large piece of land.Mining companies should design a criteria of how to depose the residue without causing land pollution.
